I hear Mexican weather is great for Christmas… they don’t have pine trees either

Carl, How did you become such a scrooge?
In honor of you, I think I will begin to play my Christmas music TODAY!

    • bad 1:20 pm on November 2, 2010 Permalink | Reply

I played some Winter on the Moors by Jeff Victor last night. I don’t have a problem with the music. I play it all year.

I just don’t like the idea of the tree:
      1. It’s cold outside and it could take hours to find a suitable one.
      2. you have to get the ornaments out and decorate it knowing that in two weeks they will be put away again. 2.5It takes soooo looong to decorate.
      3. its a safety and fire hazards.
      4. cleaning up after it is a pain.
      5. it’s really kinda morbid to cut down a living tree just so it can die in your living room in a few weeks.

I will admit that it smells nice.

I think I found a plugin to keep address within the back end of the website. Login and tell me if you can see the address book function in the side menu. Should look like this:

Sweet header and radar shot. Mark’s hustle off his rebound was sweet, too.

    Contact List Idea

So I just had an idea but not sure how you guys will feel about it.

What if I made a page on here for everyone to keep their current contact information. You know phone address email. That way when we move, or go underground (Hannah), everyone will know how to reach each other. I can make this page generally public or private so that we can only see it when we are logged in (I think I can do that).

Aunt Mary was recently asking me about eveyone’s up to date contact info. I think she was thinking Christmas Card list. So that coupled with Carl and my moving just led me thinking. Thoughts?

    • joy 9:54 am on October 12, 2010 Permalink | Reply

I like the idea, though I’d prefer to keep it private. Not sure why, though, since everyone and their uncle know everything there is to know about us here.

    • chris 1:01 pm on October 12, 2010 Permalink | Reply

like the idea. let’s do it.

    • Lucille 7:24 pm on October 12, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Private is my vote! But like the idea.

    • Lucille 7:26 pm on October 12, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Oh and I’ll probably will be living in 3 different places next year (Hartsville, Cheraw, then our place being built in Wallace after T and I get hitched). This might help keep things simple!

    • dale 8:44 pm on October 12, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Instead of posting it (no way public), why not just send a semi-annual update via email with everyone’s contact info?

      I volunteer mom!

    • Norm 1:24 pm on October 13, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Dad I knew you would want private but don’t you list in the phone book? Anyway the point of having it online is so when you need the info and can’t find the email or maybe you aren’t near your email. You can check the site and login to see our contacts.

    • dale 2:11 pm on October 13, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Norm, no problem with us being in the phone book, but I’m just skittish about family info online. I’m probably over sensitive about this, but I’ll go along with what the family wants.

    Thanksgiving 2010

What are the plans for Thanksgiving this year? I’m looking at you Mom and Joy and Lucille.

    • Lucille 4:34 pm on October 5, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Tommy and I aren’t sure yet. We have already begun to talk about it though. It kinda depends on what is happening for Christmas. Any word on the Iowa for sure yet?

    • Norm 9:56 am on October 6, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Maybe we should do a family skype conference call to talk it out. Except mom and dad don’t have a microphone…

    • joy 11:16 am on October 6, 2010 Permalink | Reply

I don’t think we are going anywhere for thanksgiving since there will be services and we aren’t planning to take Nicks vacation days until January. If you guys come to Davenport, IA that is only 1.5 hours away from us so we could do that easily enough without using vacation.
I like the Skype idea. Didn’t realize you could do conference calls with it.

    • joy 11:17 am on October 6, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Can your parents watch the conversation and also talk via phone somehow?

    • Norm 1:10 pm on October 6, 2010 Permalink | Reply

I think it is possible but I’m gonna have to double check.

    • Mom 4:08 pm on October 7, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Sorry I didn’t weigh in sooner.
I am totally depending on you guys to determine when and where. You can come here or we can travel. We need to consider the New Middletown crew as well. A conference call would be helpful, I’m sure.

I’m running real low on vaca days. i was hoping to use the rest for christmas. weekends would be best for me

    • Lucille 3:08 pm on October 10, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Ok, enough about the talking about talking. Let’s talk. For Tommy and I, we haven’t finalized anything about Thanksgiving, but in order to make the short trip up north we would have to fly. I’m not sure we want to shovel out any $$ for tickets right now. But who knows. If we stay in SC for Thanksgiving, then we will be in Wellington (the north) for Christmas day. How about we go to New Middletown Christmas day, then head to Iowa the day after. Are we spending a few nights in Davenport? I would also like to see Nick and Joy’s new crib, so I’m not apposed to taking the 1.5 hour drive to them during that time (if that’s ok Joy). Maybe if Tommy and I fly for Christmas (yikes!) we can fly into Cleveland and out of Iowa. But then again, what about packing the presents?? Humm…I’m just thinking while writing. You all can fill in your ideas.

    • badley 9:05 pm on October 11, 2010 Permalink | Reply

I was under the impression we were skipping christmas this year. Seriously.
I remember talking to Cousin Judy about waiting until New Years, and then everyone( including Uncle E and Aunt B’s kids) going to Iowa to get together. That way Daddyo and Ridic Nic would not have to worry about travel during the busy season.

I could be off base, but that’s what i remember. it seemed logical to me. (and as a bonus we don’t have to set up the christmas tree! ;)

    • Norm 8:05 am on October 12, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Carl I think you thought that because I was talking about that idea. Mom was also suggesting we do Christmas at Kellys Island. So lots of radical thinking going on. I like it. You guys who hate snow want to remove it from the most joyful holiday of the year. Joy no pun intended.

But this post is about the Football holiday otherwise knows as Turkey Day. We should start another post about Christmas so we don’t get confused.

    • joy 9:48 am on October 12, 2010 Permalink | Reply

      No pun taken.
It’s official..meaning I asked Nick…and we aren’t going anywhere for Thanksgiving. Carry on with your planning!

    • Norm 9:51 am on October 12, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Excellent, now that the vegetarians aren’t going to be around can we have two turkeys this year?
