Awesome. do you have any of those machines that go “ping!”

      • carl 8:20 am on April 8, 2011 Permalink | Reply

        you betcha. It’s my favorite.

I love that segment. Kind of sums up why us crazy folks have our babies at home!

        • Norm 9:50 am on April 9, 2011 Permalink | Reply

Joy don’t fool yourself. Instead of the machine that goes “ping,” you have the microwave that goes “ding!” I’m pretty sure there is a reason we call it one in the oven.

      Cool! I like the logo.

Yesterday at school I was talking to a fellow teacher who told me that he went out turkey hunting this past weekend. I guess the season just started?? Not sure, but I’m sure he could tell me some good spots. Any takers?

    • dale 11:24 am on April 6, 2011 Permalink | Reply

Did he see any birds? lol

Maybe spring of 2012. I’d like to take a whack at some SC birds, then head to IA and whack one there, then come back to OH and whack a couple. Then I’d be all whacked out…

    • dale 11:28 am on April 6, 2011 Permalink | Reply

But seriously, Yeah, maybe next spring. Turkey hunters don’t give up their spots easily. Since you’re not a Yankee anymore…. Mention to him that I (and perhaps an unemployed brother name Chris might like to come down in ’12).

    • Norm 11:30 am on April 6, 2011 Permalink | Reply

Lucille I was going to post another math problem here but I realized that wouldn’t make any sense since dad is shooting so many birds. For example, if dad gets one in SC one in IA and two in OH, how many rubber chickens could you fit in a pot in Wisconsin. See it just doesn’t add up.

I almost hit 6 turkeys today. By almost, I mean they were right along the edge of the road. Cheaper than getting a gun, license, and one of those turkey calls (which works well now that nick has had HOURS of practice…or at least that’s what it seemed like!) :-)

“and one of those turkey calls (which works well now that nick has had HOURS of practice…or at least that’s what it seemed like!)”

Uh oh…. Another family that has to put up with yelping, purring, and clucks… You’re not alone! It gets worse, Joy. There’s no known cure. Wait ’til he practices on a mouth call!!! I’ll bring him a few. Should be an organization for wives like, TurkeyCall-Anon.

You get used to it, but you need to make RULES. Like – no practicing when anyone else is trying to sleep!!!

      • Mom 12:28 pm on April 7, 2011 Permalink | Reply

If we can hit turkeys with the car….maybe we can help them out if they aren’t successful with their guns and calls. Especially if they promised meat for dinner and the kids are hungry!

I just tried the feed and didn’t get video, must be down.

      • dale 11:30 am on April 6, 2011 Permalink | Reply

The site has crashed several times due to overload. Early this morning there were around 150K viewers.

Sometimes they’ll turn off the cam when they’re banding the chicks, but its too early for banding.

Sold my Dodge Dakota this weekend! Sorry Chris I know you want to cherry pick all my old trucks.

Anyway I hope to turn this into a new tv for the house.

Dang Norm, I figured if you had enough broken down trucks I could combined them to make a working one.

Have my first wedding tomorrow. It’ll be a blast: a great couple that I’ve developed a wonderful relationship with, meeting with them every other week for the past 6 months. Brings back memories. Remember when? What was y’allinz best memory from my wedding?

The food at the reception! j/k

Nick singing, Norm’s toast, Joy looking beautiful, mom and I dancing, the ceremony, …and the food at the reception!

    • joy 5:57 pm on April 3, 2011 Permalink | Reply

There were about 300 people at the wedding service yesterday! It was awesome and many people were raving about how wonderful the sermon was. I am so proud of his confidence and ability to preach the truth, no matter how unpopular or politically incorrect it may be to the world.

    • Norm 10:17 am on April 4, 2011 Permalink | Reply

      Congratulations!

Joy we’ll have to wait and see how good the sermon is based on how long the marriage lasts. I just red an old report that marriages would last based on the length of the sermon, like this simple equation Matrimony (in years) = Sermon Length (minutes). Although more recent pastoral-mathematicians have brought other factors into the equation:

      Matrimony = [sermon length + (use of gosple - use of law)(fire + brimstone)(storyaboutwifeservinghhusband)(jokesaboutgoodhusbandry) + tearfulmoments] – motherofthebrideideasaboutsermonlength

Hope this is helpful. Seems like pastors all over are using this formula.

Norm, where do you come up with this stuff??

What I remember from y’all’s wedding is more selfish than Dad’s, and not as cute as Joy’s. Catching the bouquet is a favorite memory. Side note, Tommy caught a garter in a wedding one month before I caught Joy’s bouquet. Coincidence, probably so. Oh and how can I forget I successfully didn’t cry my eyes out and be a grumpy pants during pictures/ceremony. I think Norm’s toast is at the top of my list. I still talk about it.

      • Norm 10:12 am on April 5, 2011 Permalink | Reply

That toast was good. Except I lost that cd at the wedding. I think the DJ stole it.

And Lucille I don’t come up with anything. All these equations are stored happily on http://math.lcms.org. Just ask dad and Nick. Who are probably mad at me for exposing the pastoral equation engine. I’m pretty sure Google developed the original algorithm.

Lucille I have caught two Garter’s, and no magic yet. I don’t plan on going anywhere that kind of voodoo witchcraft again.
