Hey Fam! my buddy Shane is doing the beardathon for the hockey playoffs this year. I am shamelessly advertising for his success. Other than wanting to see him win, the Penguins Beardathon raises money for the Mario Lemiuex Foundation, which builds game rooms for children diagnosed with cancer and their siblings in hospitals. Also, I am more or less vicariously growing my own playoff beard through him. Just thought I would throw it out there in case you want to donate too.

On Thursday my soccer team played in the indoor championship game. We won!!! For the first time in probably 7 years i won a soccer game and a first place certificate to boot. it was a great game the score was back and forth. we scored in the last 5 minutes to tie it at 5-5. Overtime was 5 minute golden goal andt then a shoot out. we went to shoot outs. All our guys made thier goals. i went second. their 3rd guy missed. here is a pic of the team with the certificate. ( I am all about the certificate)

The tall guy in the middle, Josh, would often bring his kids to sit on the bench. there was one time he had to bring his son for one reason or another, and i think his daughter became jealous. sibling rivalry. after the first time they came about every other game. Men’s soccer dynamics are a little bit different than high school and college…

Norm and I at a murder mystery dinner hosted by our roommate Aaron.The pretty lady in the photo is one of our good buddy’s girlfriend. It was 1920′s theme. Norm was a judge and I was a jockey. Good times!

So I got this great idea that we should compete for one. Battle royale. Everyone make their best secret dish. Hmmm… We will need judges. What dost yinz think.

Well…I know someone who is very critical of judging food. In fact, I know him so well, I live with him. I volunteer Tommy for a judge. (This way the beginnings of the dish will still stay in the family.) As for the dish, I say some sort of entree. Mom’s chili was always good. Was that from a cookbook mom?
