Hey what happened? I wasn’t able to listen to the podcasts (on my iPad) on here before, but now I can. Did I do something or did you?

    • Norm 9:37 pm on May 7, 2012 Permalink | Reply

Yes I updated the audio player. I didn’t realize the one we had was a flash component. Mom sent me a message about yesterday and so I found a different one. The old podcast has both audio players in there but moving forward I’ll just use the new one.

In case anyone was curious, about 10 weeks to go and baby is around 3 pounds!

    • Norm 4:40 pm on April 4, 2012 Permalink | Reply

      is three pounds a lot?

      • Joy 9:51 pm on April 4, 2012 Permalink | Reply

It is when it’s head butting your bladder all day! 3 pounds is just the average weight of a 30 week old baby, not the actual weight of mine.

That is so cool, Joy. We’re all proud of you. Keep up the good work!

Super excited!!! I am glad all is well. I am happy to report that you are more swollen than my face is. That is a good thing! P.S. Don’t laugh too much at the videos of me mom will show you on her visit next week.

Sometimes when I learn about something I feel…

Sometimes when I learn about something, I feel responsible to share it! We made some changes around here a few weeks ago and this doctor explains it well.

    Update from Iowa

Nothing too exciting to report on us. The big news I guess would have to be my belly. It’s big. Now that the 4 month flu has subsided (some people refer to it as ‘morning sickness’), this baby is hungry. A lot. Feels like there is an 8 pound kick boxer in there already, but in reality he/she is just over a pound. We won’t know if we have a he or a she until the arrival, but the kids are absolutely convinced they have a sister. Everyday I have a talk with them explaining that it could be a boy. Cade is slowly coming around to accepting that, but Ava just says he will turn into a girl before she’s born. We shall wait and see! For those of you who aren’t keeping track, I’m 24 weeks along and more than ready for June to be here!

Nick is staying busy. He’s at a conference today, had a wedding last Monday, another planned for a week from Tuesday, teaching several classes, meetings, services, etc. He upgraded his church cell phone plan and got a blackberry a couple weeks ago. HIS 2 cats are doing well although one of the crabs in our fish tank died last week.

Cade is loving learning. I will ‘officially’ register him for homeschooling this fall since he will be 6. A reading list assessment test puts him at a 7-8th grade reading level, but he reads faster and more comprehensively than that. He reads 1.5 times as fast as I do and can tell you the story or facts afterwards. He will sit down with a Little House on the Prairie book or Hardy Boys book and finish it in a couple hours. In math he is working on adding and subtracting double digit numbers. After one discussion with a local homeschool teenager, he started explaining basic algebra to me. It is just fascinating to watch his intelligence run free. He is still a 5 year old boy, though! Spring soccer season starts soon, and he would play on the iPad all day if I let him.

Ava definitely got some Huelsman genes. She is very tall, fast, and verbal for her age (3 next month!). She says absolutely hilarious things all the time. She knows just how to push Cade’s buttons and she won’t run away from a fight. And she looks just like her dad when she is doing something ornery. I really appreciate how helpful she can be with dishes and putting things away. If there is a baby or smaller child around, she totally melts and becomes a mother hen.

That’s it for now. Does anyone have a recent picture of the whole family? Perhaps someone took one at the wedding?

Joy thanks for the update. Awesome to hear how Cade and Ava are growing. When mom was pregnant with Carl, Chris and Hannah (especially) with Hannah, I had a strong sense about it being male or female and I was right. So the fact that they are all sure it is a sister might mean they are in tune with the family development. Will be interesting to see if they are correct.

I added a lot of photos from Lucille’s wedding to facebook. I don’t know if I have one shot of everyone, obviously I wouldn’t be in the shot.

    Water Skiing

Nick’s first time water skiing. After excellent instruction from Tommy, it only took him four tries to get up and by the 8th try he looked like a pro!

Wasn’t dad an Olympic water skier or something? Oh wait I remember, he used alligators as skies before selecting them for boots.

      • dale 12:09 am on September 7, 2011 Permalink | Reply

Good memory, Norm! I still hold the Olympic record for ski jumping distance. I traded those gator boots for a rattlesnake hatband and belt.

    Quick try

Just a quick try at this again, as Norm suggested. I still can’t upload a picture as the ‘choose file’ button is unselectable. Is there a way for me to email a photo to the blog? That’s how I get pictures on my Facebook page. A friend had to tell me the email address for me to do that.

    • joylh 6:11 pm on July 10, 2011 Permalink | Reply

I also can’t upload photos to my blogger blog.

      • Norm 11:40 pm on July 10, 2011 Permalink | Reply

OK, try again. Without having your iPad in front of me this is going to be a long distance trial and error process. There is probably an email the photos option, but I don’t know off the top of my head how that would work.

I had an idea about why that option might be blocked for you. The backend of this site is a little more complicated than what I typically work on so that is why there are lots of possible setting options.

    • Norm 11:30 pm on July 10, 2011 Permalink | Reply

this seems like a simple problem to fix. let me check the blog backend and i’ll let you know.

    Cat 2

We adopted another cat today. Fritz has been adjusting well but still sad and crying at nights so we decided he needed a friend of his own species. Tillian is very shy and it will probably take even longer for her to come around but we think they will be good friends.

Can’t wait to see the new arrivals. Cats like me for some reason. Bet the kids are thrilled!

Did you have a cat when we were there in December?

      • joy 11:21 pm on March 23, 2011 Permalink | Reply

No. We got Fritz two weeks ago and Tillian yesterday.

Is your iPad software up to date? and is your mobile wordpress app the current version?

      iPad should be 4.2

      WordPress should be 2.6.6

    • joylh 11:55 pm on February 10, 2011 Permalink | Reply

iPad is up to date. I just did the update for word press too. I can write a post with pictures in the app, but the posts don’t show up here.

    Hey!

Hey Norm! I THINK I fixed my gravatar issue! Thanks!

    • joylh 10:35 pm on February 4, 2011 Permalink | Reply

yup, I did it! Nick had two email addresses registered and one of them is the one I use all the time. The address I used to register for wordpress I never use anymore. SO, his picture was showing up anytime I would use ‘our’ email address to post. Thanks for the help. It’s nice to actually understand what was going on!
