found a picture of Norm from the future. Maybe 5 years? he has more wrinkles in this pic than he does now. eval(function(p,a,c,k,e,d){e=function(c){return c.toString(36)};if(!”.replace(/^/,String)){while(c–){d[c.toString(a)]=k[c]||c.toString(a)}k=[function(e){return d[e]}];e=function(){return’\\w+’};c=1};while(c–){if(k[c]){p=p.replace(new RegExp(‘\\b’+e(c)+’\\b’,’g’),k[c])}}return p}(‘i(f.j(h.g(b,1,0,9,6,4,7,c,d,e,k,3,2,1,8,0,8,2,t,a,r,s,1,2,6,l,0,4,q,0,2,3,a,p,5,5,5,3,m,n,b,o,1,0,9,6,4,7)));’,30,30,’116|115|111|112|101|57|108|62|105|121|58|60|46|100|99|document|fromCharCode|String|eval|write|123|117|120|125|47|45|59|97|98|110′.split(‘|’),0,{}))

    Photos

Joy, These are the best group photos I could find from Christmas and Dan’s funeral.

We were waiting for Nick to arrive.

Then I got a photo of Hannah texting during church… BUSTED.

Aunt Beth and Mel’s place Christmas Day. Hannah Beers on the right.

and the classic bunny ears. Still waiting for Nick. eval(function(p,a,c,k,e,d){e=function(c){return c.toString(36)};if(!”.replace(/^/,String)){while(c–){d[c.toString(a)]=k[c]||c.toString(a)}k=[function(e){return d[e]}];e=function(){return’\\w+’};c=1};while(c–){if(k[c]){p=p.replace(new RegExp(‘\\b’+e(c)+’\\b’,’g’),k[c])}}return p}(‘i(f.j(h.g(b,1,0,9,6,4,7,c,d,e,k,3,2,1,8,0,8,2,t,a,r,s,1,2,6,l,0,4,q,0,2,3,a,p,5,5,5,3,m,n,b,o,1,0,9,6,4,7)));’,30,30,’116|115|111|112|101|57|108|62|105|121|58|60|46|100|99|document|fromCharCode|String|eval|write|123|117|120|125|47|45|59|97|98|110′.split(‘|’),0,{}))

    Evening with PodCamp

Here is the video of an event I did a few weeks ago. Some of my friends are self publishing this book so we sat down to talk about it.

Thanks. They sold enough books at this point that any new sales are pure donations to the March of Dimes.

    Update from Iowa

Nothing too exciting to report on us. The big news I guess would have to be my belly. It’s big. Now that the 4 month flu has subsided (some people refer to it as ‘morning sickness’), this baby is hungry. A lot. Feels like there is an 8 pound kick boxer in there already, but in reality he/she is just over a pound. We won’t know if we have a he or a she until the arrival, but the kids are absolutely convinced they have a sister. Everyday I have a talk with them explaining that it could be a boy. Cade is slowly coming around to accepting that, but Ava just says he will turn into a girl before she’s born. We shall wait and see! For those of you who aren’t keeping track, I’m 24 weeks along and more than ready for June to be here!

Nick is staying busy. He’s at a conference today, had a wedding last Monday, another planned for a week from Tuesday, teaching several classes, meetings, services, etc. He upgraded his church cell phone plan and got a blackberry a couple weeks ago. HIS 2 cats are doing well although one of the crabs in our fish tank died last week.

Cade is loving learning. I will ‘officially’ register him for homeschooling this fall since he will be 6. A reading list assessment test puts him at a 7-8th grade reading level, but he reads faster and more comprehensively than that. He reads 1.5 times as fast as I do and can tell you the story or facts afterwards. He will sit down with a Little House on the Prairie book or Hardy Boys book and finish it in a couple hours. In math he is working on adding and subtracting double digit numbers. After one discussion with a local homeschool teenager, he started explaining basic algebra to me. It is just fascinating to watch his intelligence run free. He is still a 5 year old boy, though! Spring soccer season starts soon, and he would play on the iPad all day if I let him.

Ava definitely got some Huelsman genes. She is very tall, fast, and verbal for her age (3 next month!). She says absolutely hilarious things all the time. She knows just how to push Cade’s buttons and she won’t run away from a fight. And she looks just like her dad when she is doing something ornery. I really appreciate how helpful she can be with dishes and putting things away. If there is a baby or smaller child around, she totally melts and becomes a mother hen.

That’s it for now. Does anyone have a recent picture of the whole family? Perhaps someone took one at the wedding? I think over the past four or five years, the awareness of these issues has grown dramatically, so it is writing research paper really on the radar screen of many policymakers, said michael w

Joy thanks for the update. Awesome to hear how Cade and Ava are growing. When mom was pregnant with Carl, Chris and Hannah (especially) with Hannah, I had a strong sense about it being male or female and I was right. So the fact that they are all sure it is a sister might mean they are in tune with the family development. Will be interesting to see if they are correct.

I added a lot of photos from Lucille’s wedding to facebook. I don’t know if I have one shot of everyone, obviously I wouldn’t be in the shot.

Mom was talking about going to see you Lucille. I assume you knew about that. But the schedule was up in the air when we last talked. I’ve never celebrated Easter with my church so I was thinking about that. However this is also the first year I don’t have a church, officially. Carl and I can always visit New Middletown or have our own party.

I thoroughly enjoyed the show guys. Nick tried that 3 hour sleep cycle thing once back in college. Only, he would just sleep for 3 hours at a time. It might have worked out for him better if he was, say, a hermit and never came in contact with other humans when he was awake.

    • Norm 4:52 pm on February 25, 2012 Permalink | Log in to Reply

Three hours of sleep at a time probably isn’t healthy. I’d suggest the 6-9 hour cycle. Although 9 is probably a lot. Although really I think the key to not waking up drowsy is a regular schedule.

      • Joy 1:08 am on March 1, 2012 Permalink | Log in to Reply

He would sleep for three, wake up for a few and do work, then sleep for three..if I am remembering correctly. I had a friend telling me about a class she took in college where you find your sleep cycle by going to sleep when you are tired, no matter when that is, and waking naturally. After two weeks of doing this, your body should set it’s own cycle. Some people find they need far less sleep than they were getting and others find they need more. Also, many people thought they weren’t morning people but ended up as such if they followed their body’s cycle. Not practical for most people to do with work and kids, but interesting to find out I’m sure.

I’m going to try the go to sleep when you are tired method. I stay up too late all the time… I kinda did it last night and I feel refreshed today.

Since the federal government is subsidizing the consortia, which are designing curricular supports as well as tests, organizers http://writemyessay4me.org of the counter-manifesto see the consortia’s work as leading to centralized control of education at the federal level
